My Dear Family, Friends and Brothers/Sisters in the Lord,

You have been kind enough to ask about and pray for my son Nathan and I just wanted to give you a brief update.

Nathan is an active, healthy, rock-climbing, sport-playing 28 yr old that is married to Elizabeth and has a 1.5 yr old little boy named Jack. They live in Chattanooga and are members at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Nathan went in to work on Thursday, June 4th and had 3 seizures. He has never had a seizure before. He was rushed by ambulance to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Nathan was sedated and intubated to protect his airway from aspirating from constant regurgitations.

A CT scan revealed a large mass on the top of his brain. Later last night, an MRI was conducted with an injected dye. The MRI showed that the mass was not an infection but was a large tumor on the front left side of his brain. We were told that the reading was “inconclusive.” Apparently, the dye from this test is intended to show either “enhancements" with aggressive tissues or no enhancements with more benign masses. Nathan’s test showed both. The next step is a biopsy where they will not only get a sample of the tumor for pathological testing but will also try to remove as much of that mass as possible.

If the ventilator can be removed and Nathan can become stable, we are hoping to transfer Nathan to UT Hospital in Knoxville to a neurosurgeon that has a terrific reputation for this. Nathan would receive excellent care at either hospital but the immediate family certainly wants every small advantage we can get right now.

We truly ask for your prayers and are so grateful for your love, friendship and support. The family of God is easily taken for granted until you are the one needing a praying, believing community. We are so glad we have you to intercede on Nathan and his family’s behalf.

In His Grace,

Buddy Sexton
