Vanderbilt Consultation

Hey everyone, Elizabeth again. Here's an update from Nathan's consultation today at Vanderbilt.

So before he has his surgery/biopsy, he has to have a functional MRI, blood work done, a sit down session, and just some more pre op testing. That will take a whole day to complete all of that. So what is a functional MRI? It's a really, really detailed MRI - where they can sort of map out where and how they're going to do his surgery. They can do this "motor mapping" thing so he's awake in the MRI (not during his surgery), and they'll be asking him to blink, or close his eyes, or move this hand, or move that leg - yadda yadda yadda - to see how close they can get to important parts of the brain without causing damage when they do the actual surgery. So since they only do functional MRIs on Wednesdays, it is scheduled for one week from today (June 17th) at 8am. Those results take 1-2 days to get back, so his surgery will *hopefully* be the following Tuesday- at the earliest. We are still waiting to hear back from his nurse on the date of the surgery.  Nathan is doing well - a little overwhelmed, tired, and frustrated that he has to wait a whole week for this - but, what can ya do. In conclusion, we ❤️ Dr Thompson.

We are headed back to Knoxville for the night and will be in Chattanooga tomorrow until we come back up to Nashville on Tuesday. Thanks for all of the love and support.
